Wellness centers, health clubs, gyms and spas are Essay Example For Students

Wellness centers, health clubs, gyms and spas are Essay all dedicated to overall fitness and well being. Day in and day out, people across the country participate in workout routines, aerobics classes and various types of exercises in any one of these facilities. In the Lafayette area, three of the most popular fitness clubs to attend are Red Lerilles, Shades for women, and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. For this assignment all three of these facilities were contacted for information regarding a mission statement, job requirements and training. The mission statement for Shades for women is as follows: WE ARE SHADES!! WE GENUINELY CARE ABOUT AND RESPECT OUR MEMBERS AND PLEDGE TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO ENSURE THEIR SATISFACTION. WE HAVE FUN WORKING TOGETHER TO BE THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE, PRODUCTIVE, CARING TEAM IN THE HEALTH CLUB INDUSTRY. WE BLEND OUR TALENTS TO CONTINUALLY OFFER SUPERIOR SERVICE AT A VALUE UNMATCHED BY OUR COMPETITORS. WE WILL ALWAYS SHOW THAT WE ARE HAPPY AND STRIVE TO BE SATISFIED. WE WILL ADMIT AND LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES AND CONTINUALLY STRIVE FOR IMPROVEMENT. IN ORDER FOR US TO SUCCEED, WE WILL FUNCTION AS A TEAM AND UNDERSTAND EVERY MEMBER IS A VITAL PART. IF ONE PART FAILS, THE WHOLE TEAM WILL SUFFER. AS WE IMPRESS OUR MEMBERS BY HELPING THEM TO ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN THEIR FITNESS GOALS, THEY WILL GROW TO TRUST US AND WILL BRING IN THEIR FRIENDS. THIS WILL INCREASE OUR PROFIT WHICH WILL INCREASE THE PROBABILITY OF OPENING UP NEW FACILITIES WITH NEW EQUIPMENT AND PROGRAMS TO BETTER SERVE OUR MEMBERS. There were three job positions were examined for their necessary skills and educational requirements while visiting Shades for Women. One of these positions was that of fitness director. Some of the requirements and skills necessary to become a fitness director are: a college degree wit major in physical therapy, exercise physiology, kinesiology or sports medicine, or some type of health or exercise related field. Applicants must also have adult and child CPR certification, as well as a thorough knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology and physical fitness training methods and routines, and nutrition and dieting methods. The second position examined was the reception area where membership sales and information are available. In order to work in the reception area, applicants must have a comfortable knowledge of computer and cash register transactions, very good interpersonal communication skills, and a general knowledge of the facility. As for a job in the nursery, the most important requirements are the ability to work well with children as well as having very good time management skills. The cost for membership at Shades is a two hundred dollars nonrefundable registration fee and a payment of forty-two dollars every month there after for one year and thirty-six dollars for two years. There is a special price plan for USL students, which drops the registration fee down to fifty dollars and a monthly charge of twenty-nine dollars. These prices include full use of the facility. The second facility researched was the highly regarded Red Lerilles. Reds is considered to be one the finest exercise and fitness facilities not only in the state, but the nation; however very little information was given regarding a mission statement or necessary job skills for positions there. When one of the managerial staff was asked to produce a mission statement, he was unable to do so replying, What are you talking about? When told what exactly what was being asked of him, the manager stated, Oh, we dont have one. The job positions being examined, much like at Shades, were personal fitness trainer, and managerial positions. It seems as though in order to obtain a managerial position, one must either work for the facility for some time, or simply outlive ones predecessor. As for the personal trainers, some have received personal training certification, but some have not. .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 , .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .postImageUrl , .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 , .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94:hover , .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94:visited , .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94:active { border:0!important; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94:active , .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94 .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u92d1ceadac1ed00ba85e445756863c94:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Remember the Titans Essay Those who are not certified have been working at Reds long enough to have a good understanding regarding exercises and the use of proper equipment for training someone. Stained Glass Window Mary as an Image of Wisdom

There are many works of art by means of which people are able to evaluate their lives, discover something new, and take some important lessons.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Stained Glass Window: Mary as an Image of Wisdom specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The works which are introduced in the Cathedral of Our Lade of Chartres deserve much attention and recognition; for example, the window at Chartres that is called Belle Verrià ¨re is a composite image Mary and her impact on human lives (Cunningham and Reich 216). The window impresses the vast majority of people who look at it and introduces Mary as the Seat of wisdom with a number of angels around and the dove above the head. One of the first things that is observed in the window is the size of Mary, the Queen of Heaven Angels. In comparison to other figures, Mary dominates: she is centered, huge, and calm. It proves that her image aims at providing people w ith the necessary care and support. She is ready to assist and understand any person and any living being who is in need or looking for some help. There is a crown on her head; this crown is a symbol of some kind of respect and power. She has some control over the angels around, still, she does not find it necessary to abuse someone or misuse her rights. The angels around hold candles and incents in order to demonstrate their respect, illuminate the image of Mary, and help other people observe her power. Though some people still believe that power does not mean care, the image in the window proves another aspect: people have the right to be understood, and the angels are ready to show the way and introduce the Queen Mary, the symbol of protection. They are worshiping their Queen; their eyes stare at her, and there are no any reasons to stop looking at her as she is an ideal, a treasure, a mother. The point is that all angels focus their attention on the whole image of Mary but not o n some particular parts. It proves that the whole image is saint; it is blessed by God, and there is no need to make choices, but it is enough to watch at her. These angles call people to forget their pain and discontent but join them and start worshiping Mary to achieve the desired understanding. In fact, these angels are free to make choices and decisions and follow their own interests. Still, what they prefer is to appreciate the image and promote its worth to other people. Another powerful symbol in the window is the dove. It is above Mary’s head, and it represents the Holy Spirit, a pure creation, an innocent being that also supports Mary. Its presence in the window helps to understand the eternity and revelation which are inherent to Mary. The image of Holy Spirit is a kind of blessing for the window: the spirit observes everything from the top and agrees to the actions offered. There is a need to believe in something and to expect that some help from the outside will b e offered in urgent cases.Advertising Looking for report on religion theology? How The Computer Has Changed American Culture Essays -

How The Computer Has Changed American Culture How the Computer Has Changed American Culture When trying to envision the world of today without computers, I imagine that our lifestyles would be extremely different. As exciting as technological developments may beit is important to remember that people who lack the skills or the machines to tap into this information are in the same position as those a century ago who could not read or had no access to books (240). These new technologies have undoubtedly altered our sense of what it means to be literate (239). Years ago, being educated simply meant that you could read and write. Today one must go through years of formal schooling to be considered scholarly. This is because, Our sources of information have become much more diverse than they were even a generation ago, (239). Early in the century, being able to read and write was a skill that only the wealthy could attain. Those without the ability to read and write were typically poor and powerless. As education became available to nearly all of America, the amount of education past high school was the key to wealth and power. Today, information and the skills to access information are past becoming linked to success. This is in part because of the computer, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Those without computer skills in the future will be left behind, powerless. I can still remember the excitement that I felt the first time I placed my hands on a keyboard. As Neil Postman states, What is peculiar about such interpositions of computers is that their role in directing what we will see or know is so rarely noticed, (247). Throughout this paper, I will examine the advancement of inventions, work ethics, jobs, and how the computer has changed these to make our lives easier in some ways, but more complex in others. Following the development of computers, American culture underwent vast and fast-paced changes. These new machines were taking over everything, which made it harder for the older generations to preserve their way of life and function as a valuable part of society. Americans not only had to change their lifestyles, but they also had to adapt to changes in their work in order to keep up with the fast pace of technology. Little did America know that technology would expand so rapidly to transform our society. There have been many advances since the initial invention of the computer fifty years ago. Today, computers operate many of the things that we use in everyday life. Some examples of these things are farm machinery, cars, planes, video games, heat and water delivery to our homes, banking, billing, and even the stock market. The advances of the computer have resulted in the expansion of American employment opportunities. Countless numbers of jobs have been created because of these changes. Almost every job that one can think of involves some sort of computer technology; there are only a handful of jobs in this day and age that dont. For example, some of the computer inspired jobs includes computer programming, computer scientists, computer consultants, computer technicians, software developers, and the list goes on and on. If it wasnt for the computer, these jobs and many other inventions may not have been possible. A giant leap occurred in the areas of entertainment, research, and individual access with the introduction of the Internet. This new invention has enabled us to, at any hour of the day or night, order a pizza, shoot the breeze, utter profundities, skim through library books, listen to music, look at pictures of naked girls, read poetry, watch movies and deliver tirades against the Government and the professoriat- all without the bother of having to get dressed, (Charles McGrath 261). You can also bid on live auctions, play games, send letters, and chat with friends across the country. These are only a few of the things that one can do on the net. People have also been able to work through the Internet right from the comfort of their own homes. Types of jobs like this allow people to have fewer distractions while working, make their own hours, work for themselves, and go to work in

Creationism and Evolution

Creationism and Evolution Introduction The bible in the book of Genesis describes the origin of heaven and earth and everything that is in it; God created everything. However, scientist have come up with a theory suggesting that all living creatures came from a common ancestor as opposed to the story of creation. This essay is a summary of what the bible says about the beginning of the world; a personal opinion is given on whether Christians should oppose what the science claims or not.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Creationism and Evolution specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The beginning of the universe as described in the bible In the book of Genesis, God created heaven and earth and everything that is in it. The story of creation is found in the book of Genesis chapters one and two: â€Å"The earth was then formless and void, darkness was all over and the spirit of God hovered all over† (The Bible 1). God went on and separated ligh t and darkness and he called light a day and darkness a night. He also separated water and dry land after which He commanded land to produce seed bearing plants and trees and just by that word, there were seed bearing plants and trees. Living creatures were also created. Lastly, God created man in his own image and blessed him; he gave him power to rule over all his creation and commanded him to fill the world (Mueller 41). Adam and Eve were later placed in the Garden of Eden and God gave them access to all fruits except fruits from the tree of knowledge of good and evil which was at the middle of the garden. Adam and Eve went against God’s command and ate the fruit they were commanded not to eat. This signified the fall of humanity and a new beginning for the human race (Mueller 40). Christians believe in the story of creation because, according to their faith, this Supreme Being (God) is able to perform things beyond their understanding. They believe in supernatural things that God can perform and no man can explain. To Christians, the bible is a very important book as it helps them to know who they are, what they ought to do, the right choices that they ought to make and the consequences of those choices. In addition, the teachings in the bible on the right choices that one should make have been proven to be the best choices since better consequences have been experienced. Christians believe in the bible because many prophecies that were prophesied long time ago have come to pass. Compatibility of the story of creation and evolution There is a conflict between scientists and Christians which has been brought about by the evolutional theory. According to the evolution theory, all living organisms descended from a common ancestor. According to Charles Darwin (the person who developed the theory), human beings developed from a common species of an animal known as ape. This contradicts the bible since the bible does not state anything close to that. I am therefore of the opinion that these two concepts, creation and evolution are not compatible.Advertising Looking for essay on religion theology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More In evolution there is no creator. In fact, we are not even told where the ape originated from. According to the bible, God is the creator of all living things. From the bible we are able to understand our origin, our purpose in life and this helps us to develop an insight as to why we should make some choices (Guenther 1). Some geologists have also presented theories which suggest that the earth existed even before the biblical creation. I strongly believe that this is not true as there is no evidence to support this. As stated earlier, many things that were written in the bible have come to pass and therefore I have no doubt that the story of creation is true and real (Robinson 1). Should Christians choose faith against science? The debate o n evolution is a big dilemma. Some people advocate that evolution education should be taught in schools while others oppose this idea. In particular, many Christians oppose evolution theory as it contradicts what the bible says. I am of the opinion that significant changes in species have occurred but the idea of one species evolving to other is quite questionable. However, Christians have a choice to believe or not to believe what the scientists say. They should therefore be careful as they make this decision, as they need to consider the impact it may have on their faith. Conclusion Heaven and earth with everything in them were created by God according to the bible. Through faith, Christians strongly believe that God is the owner of the universe and everything that is in it. Scientists on the other hand have come up with a theory that says otherwise and it is therefore very crucial for Christians to decide what to believe in, keeping in mind their faith. Christians should also tru st the bible as it is a prophetic book whose prophecies have come to pass. Guenther, Allen. Creation: A Hermeneutical Study in Genesis 1:1-2:3. Direction Journals, 1977. Government Programs in Cybersecurity Education and Awareness Essay

Government Programs in Cybersecurity Education and Awareness - Essay Example (Gattiker, 2009) Presently, the United States suffers a deficit in the number of professionals in cyber security; a fact that compromises predictions of America’s future needs. The demand for improved cyber security education would bolster America’s future workforce (Rudolph, 2009). Recent survey conducted by Zogby International suggests that cyber security education would be a significant contributor in the economic growth of the US. That small business owner registering high returns needs employees with cyber security skills.
